It is remarkable that Rangers were nine points behind Celtic on Christmas Day, beat their rivals 3-0 on 2 January and are now 15 points behind them. The reason for that is their shocking away form, with defeat by St Mirren now added to by draws at Motherwell, Hibernian, and Dundee since Santa Claus visited. Thirteen points and 13 goals in 11 matches on the road is nowhere near good enough for a club of Rangers’ resources.
